This weekend was all about my baby niece, Cora. She was getting baptized, so we made the trip down south to hang out with family, get away from heat of Fresno and well… hold the baby of course!

Last night we went over to my in-laws for dinner and then were going to leave the kids at their house while we went to back to school night. As we drove up to the school, we realized there were only 2 cars anywhere close and figured it out that we came the wrong night. We still had fun delivering a birthday present, visiting a friends new baby and getting a thrifty ice cream cone.

On the way home with the kids we told them about the whole “wrong night ordeal”. They said, “what did you do?” and I replied that I was so mad I slapped their mommy. They couldn’t believe it. I said, “no, I didn’t really slap your mommy, daddy wouldn’t do that would he?” To which my 5 year old replied, “no, but you do spank her a lot”.

Uh Oh.

I was doing the dishes like the good husband I am and our food processor’s blade slipped and skinned the top of my thumb. ouch right?

Finger cuts are the worst. They burn like crazy…I thought. Then, I decided to try the New Skin that I bought for the first time.

Oh. My. Buddha.

That stuff burns like 10 times worse than the actual cut hurt. I just hope it works after all that pain!

What a Ride

I’m one of those guys who owns a Honda, but dreams of BMWs, Ferrari’s and Maserati’s. I absolutely love nice and exotic cars. That’s actually one of the many reasons I love going to our condo in Newport Coast. It’s like, “how many Bentley’s will I see today?”
I’m no expert by any means, but I do love going to car shows and I’ll sit and watch the Mecum or Barret Jackson auctions for hours. I found a new show that I absolutely love. Top Gear US. The Top Gear franchise has been a huge hit in britain for at least 13 seasons, but this is the new US version. The guys are big kids and I laugh out loud every time I watch it.
Tonight’s episode featured Tanner, the pro-racer of the bunch, driving the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Hello! I’m not a huge Porsche fan, but I would love to drive one… This thing has over 600 horsepower, which is more than 3x the amount your Honda Accord has! Then, for the show, they got to shut down the streets of downtown LA for him. Oh man, talk about a dream! He went screaming through tunnels, around corners and down the empty streets. They even showed him racing a ’69 Nova and an ’09 Viper and he smoked em. Here it is:

This is so funny I actually thought they were messing around when the the line came across my tv screen. CNBC reported today that Abercrombie and Fitch are actually willing to pay Mike, “The Situation” from the Jersey Shore to stop wearing their clothes. No lie. You can read an article here:

Camp Birthday

We had an amazing day today. We celebrated with our good friends the 5th birthday of our middle child, Melania. My amazing wife created “camp birthday”. The theme was like a summer camp complete with painting rocks, digging for worms (in whipped cream) and a water balloon toss. The kids were all great and then it was time for presents. At the end of all the other kids gifts, we gave Melania her new pet. We tied the little Russian Tortoise with 2 little purple balloons and let her go, telling Melania she had to find her present and it had balloons on it.
She couldn’t have been more excited and the little turtle was a hit (technically it’s a tortoise but c’mon, it just doesn’t’ run off the tongue as easy). I can’t believe we are venturing into the pet owner world, but this tortoise is pretty much indestructible, so hopefully we’ll be okay…
