The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom,
and whatever you get, get insight. – Proverbs 4:7
I absolutely love this. This is a chapter in Proverbs where a father is giving instruction to his child. You don’t want to raise a lemming. One of my greatest desires is to raise girls who have a strong sense of who they are and who think independently. I want them to value wisdom and to find that wisdom in Christ. But there’s a huge principle in there. If you want the wisdom, the father tells his child, “go get it”. This isn’t something that will just come to you, you have to “make your own luck”. And then, after seeking out the truth, get insight into it. They will need to understand the truth in order to use it effectively in their own lives.
